William Longmore and his family were drawn to the home town of his Uncle who had been lost in the destruction of Lancaster KB755
on the night of August 7/8 1944.
F/S Longmore the Mid-Upper gunner on 419's Lancaster VR-F, was a young man of only 19 when he died from the fall in his
parachute which was deployed too low after Lancaster had been stricken and eventually crashed with all the other crew men still
on board.
Through the visit to Brierley Hill in Staffordshire and a few photos of plaques placed in the town memorial and
in F/S Longmore's school
Brockmoor Primary, brought the family closer to a man they would not meet.
